On the evening of June 6, the finals of the Sixth Chinese Classics Recitation, Writing, and Speech Competition, specifically the Poetry Explanation and Recitation Competitions, were held at the “One-Stop” Student Service Center on Longquan Road Campus. After intense competition, the Poetry Explanation Competition awarded one first prize, three second prizes, and six third prizes. The Classics Recitation Competition awarded one first prize, three second prizes, and five third prizes. The top four contestants will represent YUFE in the provincial competition.
This event was organized by the Academic Affairs Office and hosted by the School of International Language and Culture, with the preliminary and final rounds organized by the Chinese Classics and Literature Society. It is also part of the Reading Month series of activities by the National Language Promotion Base (Yunnan University of Finance and Economics). The judges for the competition included Professor Sun Tingting, Vice Dean of the School of International Language and Culture, Associate Professor Jiang Yan from the University Chinese and Chinese Language Teaching and Research Office, and Huang Yan from the National Language Promotion Base (Yunnan University of Finance and Economics).
During the preliminary round, selections were made through video submissions. A total of 22 groups submitted poetry explanation works, and 44 groups submitted recitation works. The contestants’ explanations were unique and insightful, illustrating their deep understanding of the poetry’s artistic conception and content. In the classical poetry recitation segment, contestants delivered their performances with great emotion, whether it was passionate, grandiose, or delicate and moving, sincerely interpreting the essence and flavor of the poetry.
The university has held this competition for six consecutive years, and the quality of the entries has continuously improved, fully demonstrating the achievements of YUFE’s humanities education and showcasing the talents of Yunnan University of Finance and Economics students.
