From June 7 to June 12, the 2024 National University Judo Championship was held at the Tangshan Jiujiang Sports Center in Qian’an City, Hebei Province. YUFE’s judo team, led by Director Zhu Haiying of the Department of Sports and coached by Zhang Xing, consisted of three students: Zhang Qidi from the School of Media and Design Arts, Dong Lirong from the School of Law and Political Science, and Jia Yulin from the School of Accounting. After fierce competition, our team achieved outstanding results, winning one gold and one silver medal, marking a historic breakthrough by winning the championship in this event for the first time.

Zhang Qidi won the national championship in the Group A -57kg category by defeating athletes from Peking University, Inner Mongolia Agricultural University, Zhejiang Normal University, and Bengbu Medical College. Dong Lirong earned the national runner-up title in the Group A -52kg category by defeating athletes from the University of Science and Technology Beijing, Anqing Normal University, and Bengbu Medical College.

As the chair unit of the Judo Professional Committee of the Yunnan Student Sports Association, YUFE has been dedicated to promoting judo in schools across various levels in Yunnan, conducting training for coaches and referees. Moving forward, the university plans to intensify efforts to host the Yunnan Campus Judo Championship, contributing to the development of sports in Yunnan.
