Two Students Awarded the Title of “Top 100 Self-Improvement Students” in Yunnan Province

Recently, the results of the fifth Top 100 Self-Improvement Students selection and commendation activity in Yunnan Province, jointly organized by the Yunnan Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League, Yunnan Students Federation, Yunnan Youth Development Foundation, and Huaneng Lancang River Hydropower Co., Ltd., were announced. Students of YUFE, Wang Xinting from the School of Finance and Xiong Xian from the Chinese Vocational College, were selected and recommended by the Youth League Committee as candidates for the Chinese College Students Self-Improvement Star title.

The theme of this years selection was Confidence and Self-Improvement, Bearing Responsibility, aiming to guide young students to engage in economic development, technological innovation, rural revitalization, democracy and law, culture and sports, green development, social services, national defense, united front work, and international exchanges. The selection emphasized students academic excellence and their social practice and volunteer service contributions, showcasing the exemplary role of young models. It aimed to instill love for the Party, the nation, and socialism among the youth of Yunnan, encouraging them to remember their responsibilities, remain loyal to the Party, achieve success in the new era, strengthen their will, and inspire them to set great ambitions, cultivate great virtues, become great talents, and undertake great responsibilities, using hard work to shape their youth and dedication to forge their future.

Xiong Xian, a member of the Communist Youth League, is currently a student of the 2021 Tourism Class 21-1 at the Chinese Vocational College of Yunnan University of Finance and Economics. He served in the Peoples Liberation Army Western Theater Command, participating in two major military missions during his service. He received the Bronze Medal for defending the country and participated in the Sino-Indian border defense mission, traveling through Tibet, Gansu, Xinjiang, and Ningxia. He once fought alongside martyr Chen Xiangrong on the same front. After returning to school, he received numerous honors, including the National Inspirational Scholarship, Comprehensive First-Class Scholarship, Self-Reliance Scholarship, Social Work Scholarship, Yunnan Province Outstanding Student, Yunnan Province Outstanding Student Cadre, and Yunnan University of Finance and Economics Outstanding Youth League Member. He has received three national awards, four provincial awards, over 20 school-level awards, and over 30 college-level awards.

Wang Xinting, a probationary Party member, is currently a student in the 2021 Class 21-1 of the School of Finance at Yunnan University of Finance and Economics. During her time at school, she organized and led teams to participate in various innovation competitions, involving over 50 team members from multiple disciplines such as accounting, law, management, and statistics. As the team leader, she spearheaded projects related to rural revitalization, producing project proposals totaling over 500,000 words. Her projects won multiple awards, including the first prize and the Best Innovation Award in the Yunnan Division of the 12th National College Students E-commerce Innovation, Creativity, and Entrepreneurship Challenge, the Gold Award in the 10th Challenge Cup National College Students Entrepreneurship Plan Competition in Yunnan Province, the Silver Award in the 8th Yunnan College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition by the Yunnan Department of Education, the second prize in the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition by the Chinese Ministry of Education and National Financial Colleges, and the Silver Award in the national finals of the 13th Challenge Cup National College Students Entrepreneurship Plan Competition by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League.
