On the morning of June 18, the graduation ceremony for the 2024 cohort of the joint undergraduate program in Finance, co-hosted by Yunnan University of Finance and Economics (YUFE) and Edinburgh Napier University, was held in the International Lecture Hall of the International Business School. The ceremony was attended by Professor Wang Min, President of YUFE; Vice President Yan Ming; Professor Andrea M. Nolan, President of Edinburgh Napier University; and Ms. Liao Jiaxin, Director of the China Development Department at Edinburgh Napier University.
In his address, Professor Wang Min extended warm congratulations on behalf of the university to the 2024 Sino-British graduates about to embark on a new chapter in their lives. He encouraged the graduates with three key elements: “Patriotism, International Vision, and the YUFE Spirit.” Firstly, he hoped that students would deeply instill a sense of patriotism, integrate their personal growth with the development of the nation, and contribute to the areas where the country needs them the most. Secondly, he urged students to adopt a global perspective, cultivate strategic insight, aim higher, and look further. Lastly, he wished that every student would always uphold the YUFE spirit of self-reliance, pioneering, and being trailblazers in the new era.
In her speech, Professor Andrea M. Nolan congratulated the graduates on successfully completing their studies and entering a new chapter in their lives. She sincerely hoped that the graduates would maintain strong confidence and a proactive spirit, showcasing their professional skills and talents in various fields and making long-term contributions to society and their industries.
Yan Ming and Andrea M. Nolan awarded degree certificates to each graduate. Andrea M. Nolan also presented an Honorary Medal to outstanding student Li Jingxian.
Graduate representative Xiao Renhong expressed gratitude to YUFE and Edinburgh Napier University for providing valuable opportunities and platforms, which enabled them to acquire professional knowledge, broaden their international perspective, and enhance their critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
The ceremony was attended by representatives from the International Business School, the International Affairs Office, the Academic Affairs Office, the Student Affairs Office, the Admissions and Career Development Center, Chinese mentors from the International Business School, all graduates, and some of their relatives and friends.
